Ministry
of Culture & Information Network: |
|
| |
The computer network project in the ministry
started with a clear view of what it should look like when it is completed. We
have firstly commenced on establishing the central infrastructure, and the next
step was building the regional and branch offices networks, and then linking
them with the ministry HQ in Riyadh observing the priorities, capabilities,
actual need and availability of application programs for each of the sector
separately.
The Network now covers the ministry complex in
Riyadh (all buildings including the Radio and TV buildings), their branches in
Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah, Tabuk and Dammam, as well as the ministry premises in
the holy shrines and 25 local sites and border outlets using more than 90
switches, 26 router with more than 4000 nodes installed, 2700 of which are
active nodes connected with leased lines, and 18 wireless networks including 40
voice over IP channels.
Operation and Maintenance:
ARCOM is responsible for the maintenance and
operation of the whole network at the ministry complex in Riyadh, and all of its
branches kingdom-wide. The Maintenance and operation includes attendance of
ARCOM engineers in the ministry and its in Jeddah, The Holy city of Makkah,
AlMadina, Dammam and Tabuk throughout the official working hours, and for 24
hours a day, 365 days a year on call. Network is fully managed by the CiscoWorks
